Windows Systems Administrator

Systems Administrator, Sys Admin, Admin Roles

System Administrator roles are found in companies which generally have a smaller user base. As a systems administrator you need to have a good understanding of a network Infrastructure. From operating server software to IP Addressing and sub-netting. Most System Administrator roles in London are based around the Windows infrastructure and most windows environments have Windows 2003 servers and very commonly Windows XP clients. To get a job as a Windows Systems Administrator I would strongly recommend you to get qualified as a MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator). Being certified is only half the job, most employers seek sys admins with experience as well.

There are lots of Systems Administrator jobs in London but most of them require a broad knowledge of different software too. Many Microsoft sys admins like to keep their infrastructure strictly on Windows as this helps the admin through inventroys and management of systems. However with the fast movement of IT technologies Microsoft products are not the only solution in many cases. There are also many other software and hardware alternatives like Linux, Cisco etc. My main point is that you should broaden your scope and learn new technologies as well, this will then increase your chances in any other Systems Administrator role you apply for. Remember the key to finding a sys admin job is to have a well written CV which have a good balance of certification and experience.
