The Online Job World

The online job market is a very competitive one, with 1000s of job sites out there it’s very tricky trying to keep up with them all. Many new job sites now feed from other popular job sites such as Monster and TotalJobs. To be honest you don’t really need to register with every job site out there, I recommend you to register with job sites which specialize in your field. E.g. if your in Finance, you’re better off signing up with a job site which caters specifically for the finance sector. Doing a simple search in Google for your sector brings up many jobs sites. There are also premium job sites available too, but most of them charge a monthly subscription to use the website. I mean seriously, who would want to charge a job seeker?

Stay away from job sites that ask for payments because the majority of them are scammers. You are better off with popular job sites like Monster and TotalJobs as they provide an excellent service and are used many employers. Online job sites are becoming more popular and 80 of job seekers now search online. With the racial discrimination act, job sites are a better alternative to walk in recruitment agencies. Although you might still see the occasional old fashioned recruitment agency on the high street, if you sneek in you will notice they are still using the old CRT monitors! Goes to show that the world has left them behind!

Many recruitment experts argue about having quality paper, but that’s irrelevant when you take into account that 80% of Cv’s comes from online. If you are using the old fashioned way of applying in store then yes, paper quality can make a difference. If you are a professional then there is no doubt you should be looking online for jobs. Office jobs should only be applied for online, never ever walk into an office and apply for a job. Most likely your Cv will go straight in the bin. Use various online jobs sites and specific niche job websites.
